This is a small group tour with a maximum size of 12 people (plus guides).
DAY 1 - Tuesday, April 2
Flight on your own to Paris.
DAY 2 - Wednesday, April 3 (B, D)
After arriving in Paris, go to the hotel to drop your luggage or check in, if available. Our local Parisian guide, Geneviève, will meet with us to give an overview of Paris and to take us on a walking tour. The time and nature of this tour will be determined once all flights have been booked. Our hotel is in an excellent location for walking to many sites.
Lodging: The Chess Hotel for 3 nights – thechesshotel.com
DAY 3 - Thursday, April 4 (B)
Geneviève leads us on a walking tour to see many of the main monuments in Paris, including outside tours of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre Dame. After the tour, you will have time to explore Paris on your own. Our guide will give us suggestions for a local brasserie that serves authentic French cuisine in a relaxed setting.
DAY 4 - Friday, April 5 (B)
You are free to explore Paris on your own. A trip to Versailles is also an option.
DAY 5 - Saturday, April 6 (B)
Geneviève will guide us for the rest of the tour. We go to Claude Monet’s beautiful and popular gardens in Giverny. Next, we travel to Rouen, capital of the northern French region of Normandy and a port city on the river Seine. It is important in the Roman era and Middle Ages, it has Gothic churches, such as Saint-Maclou and Saint-Ouen, and a cobblestone pedestrian center with medieval half-timbered houses. The skyline is dominated by the spires of Cathédrale Notre-Dame, which was often painted by Monet. We then travel to Bayeux, our base for the next four nights. Our hotel is in an excellent location for walking to many sites.
Lodging: Hotel Le Bayeux for 4 nights – hotellebayeux.com
DAY 6 - Sunday, April 7 (B)
We start with a walking tour of historic Bayeux, including the marvelous cathedral and the world-famous tapestry. The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered cloth nearly 230 feet long and 20 inches high, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England concerning William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex, later King of England, and culminating in the Battle of Hastings. On your own free time, consider seeing Museum of the Battle of Normandy and the Museum of Art and History.
DAY 7 - Monday, April 8 (B)
Today we head to Mont-Saint-Michel where we will explore this magical island topped by a gravity-defying medieval monastery. Mont-Saint-Michel is among France's most stunning cites and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
DAY 8 - Tuesday, April 9 (B)
Geneviève will lead us on this memorable and moving day as we recall the sacrifices of those who fought and died on the beaches of Normandy in World War II. Our American Sectors D-Day tour includes Sainte Mère Eglise, Utah beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha beach and the U.S. cemetery.
DAY 9 - Wednesday, April 10 (B, D)
We go to one of France's most charming towns, Honfleur. Honfleur is especially known for its old and picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind. We then go back to the Paris airport area for check in at the hotel. We say au revoir to Geneviève and our driver.
Lodging: Paris airport hotel

We fly home after a memorable time together in beautiful France!
